A bit of background information about Muang Thong Thani

Muang Thong Thani is officially called a large housing estate. However it is very much more than that now. Muang Thong Thani (or MTT) is a town outside of Bangkok.

It was developed by Bangkok Land PLC in 1989 to be a upper-middle class suburb of Bangkok. However due to the financial crisis of 1997 development was put on hold until the economy rebounded.

Development was given a major boost however since Impact Arena (the second biggest exhibition & convention center in Asia) was built in early 2000 as the remaining land in it’s vicinity has been developed rapidly.

Muang Thong Thani became even more popular with potential residents and businesses when it was unaffected in the severe floods of 2011 which inundated many surrounding areas.

Other landmarks and main attractions of the area are the 25.000 seat SCG stadium which houses Muangthong United FC and the Sukhothai Thammathirat open university.
